Brian Eno Calls On Backing to Propel Together for Palestine Track to UK Holiday Chart Peak.
A charity drive is aiming to send a Palestinian lullaby to the top of the UK charts. The project hopes to provide aid to Gaza's residents while also showcasing Palestinian culture and creativity.
A Possibility for Solidarity and an "Chart Upset"
Renowned figure Brian Eno, who features on the track, stated that the release called 'Lullaby' represents a moment to stand with Palestinians during the holidays. He remarked the potential for an unexpected chart success.
“It would be fantastic if that happened, yes,” he commented. “I wouldn't be completely disappointed if it doesn’t, holiday tracks are a unique phenomenon.”
Defiant Message of Dignity and Freedom
Palestinian singer Nai Barghouti, who sings on the reimagining of a folk song called Yamma Mwel El Hawa, explained the track's resilient spirit.
“It occupies a deeply meaningful spot for a lot of people,” Barghouti said. “The essence is that I would rather die in dignity than exist without freedom. This is the primary message of the song; we want to live a dignified life that we deserve as Palestinians.”
Production History and Contributing Musicians
The single was laid down following a large-scale benefit event held in late summer. Originally intended to be captured during the live event, the piece was shelved during the concert due to scheduling overruns.
The notable list of artists featured on Lullaby features a group of well-known figures from the music world. All were part of the benefit event, which successfully generated a significant sum for charitable causes.
Production and Release
Lullaby was brought to life by a group of producers and composers. The single features a combination of the traditional Arabic lyrics with new English lyrics.
The organizers behind the initiative have stated that their goal is to raise as much as possible for a specific fund. These proceeds will be allocated to initiatives supporting Palestinians through an partnering humanitarian organization.
“We don’t have a rigid aim,” a representative commented. “We’ll go for whatever we can get. Naturally, the higher the total, the greater the impact. All proceeds are directed out to Gaza.”
The reality in the region was described as its profound destruction, with a overwhelming percentage of property reportedly levelled or seriously harmed.
“In that context, a handful of millions is unlikely to make an enormous impact. But I think what does make a difference is first of all spreading knowledge of this plight and proving there’s another side to the story.”
The track is scheduled for release this Friday. Additionally, a video of the solidarity show will be made ready to watch on a popular streaming site from the 19th of December.
