Ex- Doctor Accused of Sexual Assault Charges Involving 38 Individuals in His Care
Prosecutors have stated that a former doctor stands accused of performing assaults against thirty-eight individuals who were under his care.
The Serious Allegations
Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham faces allegations of numerous sexual offences – some of which involve some against minors under the age of thirteen – between 2017 and 2021.
A senior prosecutor commented, “Our prosecutors have worked at length to assist a detailed and complex police inquiry, meticulously examining the available evidence to establish that there is sufficient evidence to proceed to trial and that it is in the interest of justice.”
The Police Inquiry
These allegations follow what investigators described as a “detailed inquiry” into reported assaults at medical facilities: the Royal Stoke university hospital and Russells Hall hospital.
Spencer is scheduled to appear at the local magistrates' court on 20 January.
Breakdown of Offences
The charging documents outline the forty-five charges comprise:
- Fifteen counts of sexual assault.
- 17 counts of penetrative assault.
- Nine counts of assault on a minor under thirteen.
- Three counts of penetrative assault on a child under thirteen.
- 1 count of attempting to assault by penetration.
Authorities have asked anyone with concerns to get in touch with the investigating team.
