Fast bowler Gus Atkinson Exacerbates England's Injury Problems.
'Significant concern' for the English camp as Atkinson goes off suffering a hamstring problem.
Gus Atkinson increased the fitness woes of the England squad when he left the playing area during Saturday's play of the fourth Ashes Test against Australia.
The pace bowler pulled up with his left leg post-delivery in his spell during the morning session.
The touring camp stated the 27-year-old felt some "soreness" and was to take time away from the action for further assessment "in the coming hours".
The concluding match of the tour in Sydney gets underway on Sunday, 4 January.
The English side has been without strike bowlers Mark Wood with a knee problem and Jofra Archer with an abdominal strain on this Ashes tour.
Matthew Fisher was called up as cover for Wood.
Atkinson struggled early in the series, claiming a mere three wickets.
He was dropped for the Adelaide match, only to be brought back for the Boxing Day match as Archer's replacement.
The county bowler showed better form in Melbourne, bagging two scalps in Australia's first innings, before adding 28 with the bat among just a trio of English batsmen to get into double digits.
After bowling one over at the end of day one, he came back on Saturday morning and removed Scott Boland Scott Boland caught behind.
Unfortunately, at the end of his spell, he sent down a change of pace to the batsman and immediately felt his left hamstring.
Atkinson was recalled for the fourth Ashes Test after being left out of the third.
