Followers Call for Arrest of Person Who Grabbed Ariana Grande
Passionate followers of the actress are calling for that a individual who jumped a fence and seized the actress during the recent Wicked: For Good debut be taken into custody or removed from Singapore.
A circulating footage reveals the Australian man pushing past camera operators and charging at Grande while the performers proceeded down a event pathway accompanied by onlookers.
Co-star Cynthia Erivo quickly guided the surprised star away from Mr Wen, who was observed being escorted out of the gathering by guards.
Mr Wen stated on Instagram Thursday evening that he was "released after being detained", though official papers revealed that he was scheduled to appear on the next day. It is uncertain if he was charged.
Pattern of Incidents
This is not an isolated incident for Mr Wen, who calls himself a "Controversial Figure", has invaded a concert or event. His Instagram feed features videos of him interrupting other celebrity events, including jumping on stage at Katy Perry's Sydney performance in earlier this year and in a like fashion during The Chainsmokers performance in the city last December.
"Steps should be implemented taken against him as this is evidently a legal violation," wrote an Instagram commenter, in a message to a video Mr Wen posted of his act.
"Oh wow so you do this a lot... how aren't you in jail?" a different Instagram user questioned.
Fans Show Disapproval Over Ariana's Well-being
Many fans blamed Mr Wen for "re-traumatising" Grande, who had discussed suffering from trauma-related anxiety after a terrorist explosion at the end of her spring 2017 concert in Manchester, resulting in the death of 22 people and injuring many.
"After everything she's faced... including the Manchester attack, you considered it entertaining to rush the barrier?" said a further response on Instagram.
Some supporters also faulted event staff at the premiere for not being vigilant enough; while different individuals called for digital services to block Mr Wen's content.
Reaction and Premiere Information
In clips circulating online, Grande appeared surprised when she was grabbed by the individual. Her fellow actors Michelle Yeoh and Erivo can be observed consoling her while Mr Wen was removed by staff.
Grande has remained silent on the situation, and the rest of the event carried on uninterrupted.
Numerous of attendees had assembled in a crowd of colorful attire at the Wicked: For Good regional premiere in a Singapore mall, including some who had waited for as long as many hours before it commenced.
The motion picture, to be launched on November 21, is the follow-up of a two-part adaptation of the acclaimed theatrical show Wicked, which revolves around the unexpected friendship between two contrasting sorceresses.
The show itself is a adaptation of the classic story The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.
Grande, who portrays the benevolent sorceress Glinda, was dressed in a rosé sparkling outfit at the gathering while Erivo, who plays the wicked witch, wore a elegant ensemble embroidered with roses.
They were accompanied by co-star Jeff Goldblum.
The initial film, Wicked, was the top-earning film of last year in the UK, and earned ten award recognitions, winning several for excellent wardrobe and artistic direction.
