Jurgen Klopp admits a return to lead Liverpool is plausible in theory.

The German coach, who stepped down from Liverpool in 2024, has suggested that a future comeback remains something that could happen. Klopp, following a hugely successful nine-season tenure featuring Champions League success and ending the club's long wait in 30 years, has since taken on roles in a global football capacity with the Red Bull group and as an advisor with the German Football League.

Supporters’ Hopes and Klopp’s Candid Remarks

The club claimed the league title in the previous campaign, but many fans who revere Klopp would embrace the notion that he might come back one day. Speaking candidly, he told his interviewer: “I stated I refuse to lead another team in England. Therefore should it be the Reds...yes. Theoretically it’s possible.”

“At 58 years old, so I might decide down the line, who knows. Must I choose now? In that case, I'd stay away. But thank God, no such pressure exists. I'll simply watch how things unfold.”

What Would Lure Him Back?

Questioned regarding what circumstances must arise to bring him back to the touchline, Klopp admitted he feels no immediate pull for a comeback. “I don’t even know exactly, I enjoy my current role,” he said. “I don’t miss coaching; No desire to be in the rain through long matches; I'm glad to skip interviews four times, three times a week or having 10-12 interviews weekly.

“I don’t miss the dressing room in that context, yet sharing a meal alongside the squad having a nice chat, I appreciate that. We won a lot of games meaning regularly great spirits in the building. I can still hear the captain's chuckle vividly recalled for example.”

Praise for His Successor

He commended for his successor, praising him for the adjustments that took the title in the previous season. The team has suffered four consecutive matches in all competitions following significant transfers, but he rubbished the notion of it representing a slump.

“[Liverpool have] an incredible striker like Florian Wirtz, doubters will be silenced with negative comments. An outstanding player. The French striker, incredible player. They have a strong thoughtfully assembled roster. No need for concern over the club, things will improve.”

Heartfelt Words for Diogo Jota

He shared movingly about the death of Diogo Jota, a 2020 acquisition during his tenure, along with the consequences for the team. The forward was killed in a vehicle collision alongside his brother in July.

“Who can fill the void of such an individual? This isn't just regarding his on-field talent, it’s the guy he was. I can’t imagine the squad missing him. I still cannot speak properly about it. It was an incredible shock for his teammates also. Nobody at Liverpool might employ it for poor performances yet it's the reality. Being in that space where his spirit remains. Coping with it individually is challenging. Impossible.”
