R360 League Players Hit With 10-Season Suspension from NRL
Roger Tuivasa-Sheck earned 20 international appearances for New Zealand before transferring representation to the Samoan team.
Australian rugby league's governing body has stated that participants who enter the “rebel” R360 will be prohibited for 10 years.
The proposed competition, which plans to launch in 2026, is aiming to attract rugby union and rugby league players with hefty contracts and a condensed game calendar.
Top National Rugby League players have allegedly been contacted by the new league, which will involve multiple men's teams and four women's teams operating from large metropolitan areas around the world.
The Samoan the player, who is with the Warriors in the league, has said he has had talks with the breakaway league.
Papenhuyzen, Lomax, Haas and Gray are also reported to be weighing up offers from the new competition.
Several leading union teams, such as Australia, recently declared a prohibition on players joining R360 appearing in global fixtures.
“We have consulted our teams and we've acted decisively,” commented the league's chief the official.
“Sadly, there will continually be entities that try to exploit our game for potential financial gain.
“They don't invest in development systems or the advancement of players. They only leverage the efforts of existing bodies, jeopardizing careers of monetary damage while benefiting financially.
“They are, in reality, imitating the sport.”
The organization is launched by ex-England star Mike Tindall and supported by commercial backers.
Following the potential rugby union prohibitions were declared last week, it said: “We want to work together as part of the global rugby calendar.
“The competition is arranged with customized calendars for male and female sides and the organization will permit participants for test matches, as written into their deals.”
The breakaway group will seek approval for its plans from rugby union's governing body, the sport's regulatory group, at its council meeting in 2026.
