Shock as Beloved South African DJ Shot Dead in the City of Johannesburg.
A popular South African media personality and entertainer has been murdered in the nation's economic hub Johannesburg, triggering widespread grief across a nation struggling with rampant crime.
Warrick Stock, popularly known as DJ Warras, was attacked in the central business district on the afternoon of Tuesday.
Police said the 40-year-old media personality was accosted by three suspects, with one began shooting at him before running away.
The purpose behind the incident has not been established and no one has been arrested have taken place, police said.
Details of the Attack
Law enforcement indicated that Stock was attacked as he was departing from a building in the vicinity of the Carlton Centre.
He had spent several hours at the property overseeing the installation of security systems, which had been controversially occupied by squatters, it was reported.
"The report indicates the victim was confronted by three unknown suspects after parking his vehicle, and they shot at him before fleeing the scene on foot," an official report confirmed.
Security camera video showed a suspect with dreadlocks and clad in what resembled a protective services outfit firing shots on Stock before running away.
The DJ attempted to flee after he was shot but succumbed to his injuries on the opposite side of the road.
Officials noted that Stock had an unused firearm and it was not a robbery during the assault.
Key evidence, like spent shells, were discovered at the location.

"We know they walked a long distance after the shooting, and investigators have been attempting to locate them to find their destination," stated a police chief.

"We know he was a champion for numerous individuals. He addressed issues courageously about subjects not many people were ready to tackle. This is a profound tragedy."
