Soccer Analyst Chris Sutton Battles Artist Murs in Premier League Forecasts
Arsenal's ten-match winning run was ended by Sunderland prior to the international break, but will the English top division leaders recover against north London rivals Tottenham this weekend?
"{I believe like Arsenal are miles ahead of Tottenham at the moment but Spurs manager Thomas Frank will have a strategy for this match," remarked football expert Chris Sutton.
"The Spurs manager will attempt to nullify Arsenal, who have not always been at their sparkling finest this season - but Mikel Arteta's side usually still find a way to win."
Sutton is forecasting results for all 380 Premier League fixtures this season, versus artificial intelligence, fans and a variety of special visitors.
In week 12, he faces singer Olly Murs, who is a Manchester United supporter.
Murs' latest record, Knees Up, is available on the weekend.
Football and Family Life
Murs is a talented footballer as well as a accomplished artist and has been a star of several charity football matches down the years - but he is not intending a professional comeback as a player.
"{I recently played in a charity match the other night for a friend of mine," he explained. "My team was losing 3-1 when I came off in the 60th minute, and they went on to win 4-3, so you can interpret that what you want!
"I continue to love football, but I injured my knee a few years ago and it even now isn't where I want it to be. I hope I could play more but the uncertainty of the sport means it's too dangerous for me in my profession to do it seriously again.
"Plus I am 41 now, and we are not all Cristiano Ronaldo, are we!? No, I am very happy not playing football and I am gearing up for the moment that my child or son decides to play instead."
Murs and his wife his partner have two children, their daughter and their son, and he is prepared to emulate his dad by becoming their coach.
"I won't force football on our children but I've previously told my wife that if they happen to get the passion for it then I will have to go and get my manager qualifications - and I will likely be managing their weekend football side," he said.
"I watched my nephews play a lot, and I truly got into it, and I clearly owned a football club for a period too.
"My father did it with us when I was a child, which is probably where I get it from. He coached our side for two or three years and had a wonderful time with it. That could be the next step for me as well, and I am looking forward to it!"
Premier League Predictions
Saturday, 22 November
- Turf Moor, 12:30 GMT
The Blues may have to be patient for Cole Palmer's comeback from injury but their attack is now more potent with Pedro and Liam Delap both back fit.
I still think this fixture will be fairly tight, though. The Clarets are disciplined and their sole home defeats so far have been against the Reds and the Gunners.
It suggests a one-all tie to me, but I am actually going to choose the London side to win narrowly for what would be their third league win in a row.
The expert's forecast: 1-2
The singer's prediction: Chelsea will be superior. 1-3
Artificial intelligence's outlook: 0-2
- Vitality Stadium, 15:00 GMT
The Cherries have been defeated in their previous couple games - albeit both of them were away - but they got thoroughly beaten by Aston Villa last time out which shocked me.
On the other hand, West Ham won back-to-back victories before the hiatus and, although both of those fixtures were at home, they do look strong again.
The Hammers' sole away win this campaign came at Forest in the summer, when West Ham boss Nuno Espirito Santo was previously Forest coach.
Therefore, what exactly do I go with here - can West Ham extending their streak under Nuno, or the home side responding?
I will choose the Cherries, because I believe what happened against Villa was a anomaly.
The pundit's prediction: 2-0
The guest's prediction: Bournemouth are doing well but the visitors have picked up under their boss. 2-2
The algorithm's pick: 1-1
- Amex Stadium, 15:00 GMT
Brentford were considered one of the favourites for the drop before the season began, but they have surprised a few observers under Keith Andrews and are in fine fettle with three wins in their past four games.
My son told me to get Bees forward Thiago in my fantasy soccer squad a few weeks back and, guess what, I ignored the advice.
Thiago will likely find the net again on Saturday but I am still not going to pick him or back Brentford at Amex Stadium.
They have not had much success on the road this season, and Brighton are always decent at their stadium. The visitors will try to attack on the counter-attack but I think the home manager's side pose much more of a threat.
Sutton's forecast: 2-1
Olly's view: It could be a match where you think there is going to be a lot of scores but it in reality proves to be quite close. 1-1
AI's prediction: 2-1
- Craven Cottage, 15:00 GMT
It is a massive fixture for the Cottagers, who have suffered defeat in five of their past six games.
They have have lots of talent in their team but it still seems like they could be dragged into a drop zone battle.
As for the Black Cats, indeed they are the unexpected success of the Premier League campaign so far.
Their display in the 2-2 tie with the Gunners last time out was superb. We have not witnessed any other team rough up the Gunners like that this season, and they were fully competitive for them.
The logical choice to do to back the Black Cats here, because they are clearly able of roughing the hosts up too and, the last time they were in this part of London, they beat Chelsea at the close of October.
But I am not going to do that. Instead, I really need to carry on opposing the away team with my forecasts. I am claiming a lot of responsibility for their good outcomes because they evidently love to defy my predictions.
Looking at Fulham's at Craven Cottage record, the only team they have lost to is Arsenal. Their manager's side will be extremely desperate for a positive outcome, so I am going to say they will pick up three points.
The expert's forecast: 1-0
The guest's choice: I'm aware the visitors are doing well and also that the hosts are on a bad run... but Fulham have nonetheless been respectable at home this campaign. 2-0
The algorithm's prediction: 2-0
- Anfield, 15:00 GMT
This is a tough one to predict. Liverpool have lost seven of their past 10 games in all competitions, but might they be one of the sides who profit from the {international break|
