From the very beginning of the fourth campaign, fresh DM Brennan Lee Mulligan has maintained audience suspense with extensive world-building, a diverse cast of personalities, and a gripping narrative including angels, demons, and dark forces increasing in strength within the city.
Warning: Spoilers for the third episode of the new season are included.
The Combat-Oriented Party Unveiled
The third episode ended with a major cliffhanger and introduced the premier party of adventurers who will separate from the main group to embark on their own adventure, apart from the additional parties.
This warrior group consists of Teor (portrayed by the voice actor), the agile character (the talented performer), the strong-willed figure (the cast member), Wicander Halovar (the player), and Kattigan (Robbie).
Dividing the Cast
With 13 cast members, it was clear from the outset that maintaining everyone at one table would be impossible.
Hence, the initial installments of this story serve as an Prelude, connecting the individual narratives before branching into three smaller tables: Soldiers, Strategists, and Seekers.
Characteristics of the Warrior Group
Per Brennan Lee Mulligan, the warrior group is for participants who enjoy a typically action-packed fight-heavy story mode where diplomatic options are few and far between.
Initially, figures such as the squeamish cleric Wicander might look unsuited, but the actions of the latest installment demonstrate why these specific adventurers are ideally matched for the combat party.
Why They Must Go
First, the team knows exactly where to head next after a brutal initial meeting with the antagonists.
An old friend of the deceased character—whose death kicked off the narrative’s action—used the enemy for his own means, entering Thjazi’s hideout, striking Thimble, and swiping all the powerful objects to auction.
The traitor then paid off his obligations and ran away to a Halovar stronghouse in Gormalay, Timmony, above the urban center, with Teor’s brother close behind.
Character Drivers
Secondly, each character has a specific drive to depart the urban setting:
- The agile hero, as the close ally and trusted friend, wants vengeance.
- The adventurer is familiar with Timmony and cautions that it is a nasty place.
- Tyranny and The healer, having resisted his family’s wishes to kill the target and instead freed him, have no safe haven.
- But, their position as prominent individuals in House Halovar could assist the team reach areas they normally couldn’t.
- Additionally, The fighter swore a eternal obligation to The cleric for his salvation and will now accompany him anywhere.
Fugitives
Finally, all of them are hunted by the authorities that control the city for a range of causes, making remaining behind dangerous:
- Thimble and Kattigan are notorious outlaws.
- Tyranny and The cleric defied the powerful family and the legion of demons they are allied with.
- The fighter is targeted for elimination by House Halovar.
This results in them little choice but to travel to Timmony in pursuit of the antagonist.
