Two Victims Named in the Providence Campus Incident as Police Press On With Manhunt for Gunman.

The pair of scholars who were killed in the recent tragic incident on the university campus had tributes paid to them on Monday – amid a widespread hunt for their killer persisted following the discharge by local law enforcement of the only individual of interest in the case.

Honoring a Lost Student

The student Ella Cook, a second-year student from Alabama, was called “an amazing, stable, pious, radiant soul”, per the Cathedral Church of the Advent, Birmingham, which paid tribute to her at a gathering on Sunday.

She served as vice-president of Brown’s division of the College Republicans organization, as the club stated. The White House press secretary also expressed words of sorrow on social media, saying in part: “There are no words. Keeping in mind her kin and peers, especially her parents.”

An International Student

The second fatality was MukhammadAziz Umurzokov from Uzbekistan, a citizen of Uzbekistan in his freshman year at the prestigious university, his family confirmed.

Umurzokov’s identity was verified by the foreign office of Uzbekistan.

“He was exceptionally gentle, witty, and bright. He had big dreams of entering the field of neurosurgery and aiding others,” his sibling Samira said in a online post.

What Happened

Nine other people were hurt in the weekend shooting in the school of engineering of Brown’s university in Providence, during the school’s final exam period.

Officials stated on Sunday evening that a 24-year-old male detained in a search at a hotel about 17 miles from the scene earlier in the day was set to be freed.

“We have a murderer out there,” stated Rhode Island’s attorney general, Peter Neronha.

Neronha explained, “Occasionally a probe goes down a path, and then you have to regroup and go in another, and that is the current situation over the last day or so.”

Ongoing Concerns

Providence’s mayor, Brett Smiley, acknowledged: “This will probably generate new worry for our community”.

The gunman began shooting inside a lecture hall in the engineering facility on Saturday afternoon, shooting over four dozen bullets from a 9mm pistol, a police source told the Associated Press.

Police that searched the hotel seized two handguns and two ammunition clips when the individual was detained, according to reports.

The Wounded Victims

Regarding the nine injured, one pupil was discharged from care, mentioned Christina Paxson, Christina Paxson. Seven more were in serious yet stable state, and another was critically ill, officials reported on Sunday.

Durham Academy, a private K-12 school in Durham, North Carolina, said a former student, Kendall Turner, was among those critically wounded.

Cook was remembered at a church service in Birmingham on Sunday. A reverend stated, “She was an incredible, grounded, faithful bright light not only in her youth... but at Brown University she was an incredible light in that specific location as well.”

A group leader, Martin Bertao, posted a statement from the group. “She was famed for her fearless, heroic, and gentle spirit as she worked for her branch and peers,” he said.

The US ambassador, Jonathan Henick, said he was “profoundly grieved” by Umurzokov’s death in a tribute. “Our profound condolences go out to the Umurzokov family, loved ones, and fellow students and mourn the loss of his potential.”

The fatal shooting at Brown, the seventh oldest in the US university with about thousands of bachelor's and 3,000 graduate students, happened during one of at least 392 shooting incidents recorded nationally so far in this year, according to records. Monday was the 349th day of the year.
